Sunset Stroll by the Sea with CLP -A Guided Hike to Support Immigrant Youth | Saturday, 03. October 2020
About this Event
Participants will meet at the park headquarters which is outside of the entry gate.
This will be a leisurely ranger-guided walk along unpaved paths in Sandy Point State Park which will end at sunset along the beach. Guests are encouraged to wear shoes and clothing appropriate for the weather. Proceeds from this event support the work of the Chesapeake Language Project.
The Chesapeake Language Project (CLP) believes that immigrants bring tremendous benefits to our communities and strives to support immigrant students by increasing access to educational opportunities through our mentorship and scholarship programs.
Over the last 4 years, the CLP has awarded nearly $9000 in scholarships to 8 Maryland high school graduates. Our mentorship program, which began in 2019, guides professionals in the community to work one-on-one with Maryland high school students to navigate the college preparation and application process.
The funds raised at this stroll by the sea will be used to support the Chesapeake Language Project's mission of increasing educational opportunities for immigrant students in Maryland.
