2018 FREEDOM RIDE 3 (Henry County, Georgia) | 501 Pullium Street | Sunday, 04. November 2018

In the Summers of the 1960s, a rainbow coalition of courageous young people rode buses South to protest racial segregation& register African Americans to vote.
50 years later, the fight continues. This summer, a panel of federal judges found "compelling evidence of race-based redistricting" in Henry County's Georgia State House District 111 — yet they agreed to let elections continue for this racially gerrymandered district.

Please join El and a host of young activists as we ride to Henry County, Georgia to protest racial-gerrymandering & get African American and working class voters to the polls for El-Mahdi Holly's last & final campaign.
RSVP here for a seat on the bus at the link below or meet us in Henry County at 3PM at:
Dunkin Donuts, 1470 Jonesboro Rd, 30253

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)
1) I've never done this before? Will I get training?
YES. Training on the candidate, the issues, and how to knock doors (which is called "canvassing") will all be covered before you board the bus, and during the bus ride.
If you would like to rehearse on the phone, before the Freedom Ride, we can email you a script and computer program to make phone calls from home.  Contact: StateHouse111@gmail.com for more information.
Volunteers knock doors every Saturday at 9AM & Sunday at 3PM.  Simply show up at the following address any Saturday or Sunday to get started:
Democratic Party Coordinated Campaign Office - ask for Cherice:2667 Highway 42 North, Stockbridge, GA 30281 (near Thai Garden restaurant)

2) What should I bring to the event?
PLEASE bring:

A fully charged smartphone (iPhone, Android or Google) if you have one.
Your Phone Charger & backup battery if you have one. (We have a program that sends scripts and information to your phone. However, the program is a battery killer)
Water and a Snack (We will have some, but you can bring your own)
A cheerful attitude

Before the event, you can download the app we will use, called MINIVAN; and Create an Action ID using your email.

3) How should I dress?
It will be HOT, so dress accordingly.  Henry County is on the conservative side, so it is preferred that you dress Business Casual — light slacks & a collard shirt, or a sundress.
Most importantly, WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES! There will be lots of walking.

4) What if I get tired or don't want to knock on doors?
You can meet back at the Dunkin Donuts. Serveral people there will be calling voters.
If you think you will want to make phone calls — or know someone who does — please BRING YOUR LAPTOP & CHARGER.  Our Phone Bank is also run through internet-based software.

5) Is there an Age Requirement to participate?
Canvassers under the age of 18 MUST be accompanied by an *****.

6) What are my parking options?
There is FREE parking in the church lot at 704 Ormewood Ave, and the surrounding streets in the Grant Park area.
If you choose to arrive at the Democratic Coordinated Campaign Headquarters in Henry County, there is ample parking in the rear of the location.

7) Can I drive my own vehicle?
DEFINITELY.  If you plan to drive your own vehicle, please DO NOT RSVP at the ticket link above. (We are using RSVPs to keep count of how many seats/buses we need).
If you plan to drive your own vehicle, please still arrive by 2PM to attend training on how to Knock Doors for Campaign and use our SmartPhone App.
