Opera Hits the (Virtual) Books: Spirit Run by Noé Álvarez | Wednesday, 17. June 2020

This summer, Boston Lyric Opera launches our first (Virtual) Summer Book Club, featuring a selection of books inspired by some of our favorite operas. Join us for family drama, epic journeys, and sweeping sagas.

Boston Lyric Opera's Opera Hits the Books is going VIRTUAL on Wednesday, June 17th! Join us at 7:00 PM via Zoom to discuss Noé Álvarez' memoir, Spirit Run.

The electrifying debut memoir of a son of working-class Mexican immigrants who fled a life of labor in fruit-packing plants to run in an Indigenous marathon from Canada to Guatemala, reimagining North America and his place in it. This memoir was suggested by a member of the BLO Book Club to pair with the travels of the title character from Wilhelm Kienzl’s opera, Don Quixote. We are eager to read about Noé’s difficult and incredible journey and hear the stories of those who ran alongside him to renew cultural connections across North America.

FREE to all who can join! Participants will receive a Zoom link 24 hours prior to the event start.
