Gowanus Canal Spring Cleaning in Brooklyn | Saturday, 20. March 2021

Help clean the Gowanus Canal shoreline and possibly enjoy a canoe voyage to collect more trash floating in our Canal in Brooklyn, NY

About this Event

Stop by the Gowanus Dredgers Canoe Club Boathouse to help us clean our equipment, dock and shoreline to celebrate the start of our 21st season of recreational Gowanus Canal canoeing. We may offer 15-30 min canoe voyages if weather cooperates and we supply nets, gloves and bags for trash collection found floating in our Gowanus waterway during your voyage.''

This year, we are partnering with Trash Hero with the hope of removing larger objects dumped at the Gowanus shoreline. Let's collaborate and clean! We want a large crowd of volunteers so stop by to help lift items like shopping carts!

Don't want to collect trash from canoes? Don't worry, we expect plenty of finds on land and we may be joined by NYU Tandon School of Engineering's Brooklyn Atlantis team who may also provide a motorized robot floating with us to collect debris found in the water! Canoeing trash collection will be dependent on weather and water temperatures.
