  • i could have sped this up in a time lapse video and made this look flawless and unattainble, but i wanted to share my unedited practice with you: shaky arms, bed head and all. i have been working on forearm stand (pincha mayurasana) for years. i remember the first time i tried it, it was **** on my shoulders and felt too intense and impossible. i felt defeated. but my practice and mindset around it didn't start to shift until i took a local instructor's arm balance + inversion workshops. the key thing that i took away went something like this, "you can't build a sustainable inversion practice by kicking up and hoping for the best each time. if you do it that way you might stick it, you might not. to really build a strong inversion practice you must build a solid strong core first to help support you on the way up." this is a lesson i continue to use in my own teaching with my students, because it makes sense and it works. since that workshop, i've been taking my time letting my body open up slowly to this posture, not kicking, but leaning forward and letting my core lift me up gradually. i've practiced deliberately after taking classes. i've taken several days off from practicing this but decided to roll out my mat before heading to the grocery store and viola! my body felt so light today. yoga is such a beautiful journey ya'll. today i am reminded to keep going even when things feel impossible and heavy. <3
  • another news story i did for FOX 5 Atlanta about hip hop yoga that was captured beautifully <3

  • good morning chicago! i wanted to share my latest blog post with you which was very challenging for me to write. but alas, i finally pressed publish on this summation of my year as the hip hop yoga teacher. this is a very candid review where i share my thoughts on all the success i've obtained this year, how i struggled at times to take care of myself and even felt lonely. it's a long, unapologetic honest post. the only way i know how to be. enjoy <3

  • many people ask me how i found yoga and started teaching. there are alot of reasons: heartbreak, depression and ptsd from being robbed at gunpoint in a foreign country are what led me to completing my teacher training. but it's my scoliosis that led me to trying out the practice almost a decade ago. here is a blog post i wrote about my journey to the mat <3 how did yoga find you?
