15th and Final Santa Secret Shop | Saturday, 02. December 2017

The Santa Secret Shop, sponsored by the Dodgeville Kiwanis, is located at the QLF Research Center, 3625 State Road 23 (beside House on the Rock Inn), Dodgeville. The dates for the event are December 2 and 9, 2017, from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM. The purpose of this event is to give children (Pre-K through grade 6), in Dodgeville and the surrounding areas, an opportunity to purchase gifts for family and friends.

As families enter the Santa Shop, they must stop and register their child(ren). Volunteers will, then, accompany your child to the shop, located in the lower level of the building. NO parents are allowed in the area, where the children are shopping. It’s a secret and a special place for all the young ones!

Prices for all the gifts in the Santa Secret Shop range in price from $1.00 to $10.00, however, no child is turned away, due to his inability to pay. After each child has selected all the items needed, the gifts will be wrapped, tagged, and bagged by reindeer and elves. There will be treats and cookies for each child, as well as a special visitor or two.

Christmas vendors will be available for adults to browse (such as Avon, Pampered Chef, Stampin' Up, etc.) on the main level of the building. The Dodgeville United Methodist Women will have inexpensive lunch items available on both Saturdays, as well as homemade baked goods on December 2. The Dodger Food Locker will have baked goods for sale on December 9. There is something for everyone!

  • Blank shopping lists, for your child, will be available, at the child check-in table, if you forgot yours or attend a school, where a letter wasn't sent home.
  • Below is the information that, basically, will be going home in a letter, through the schools, next week: The 15th and Final Santa Secret Shop will be open for “business” at the QLF Research Center, 3625 State Road 23, Dodgeville (right beside House on the Rock Inn) on December 2 and December 9 from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Your children (age 3 through grade 6) may come and buy presents and have them wrapped, tagged, and bagged by reindeer and elves, while eating a Christmas goodie! There is one rule, though…NO PARENTS ALLOWED in the Santa Shop area! Your child(ren) will be well supervised and brought right back to you, when finished…PROMISE!! Gifts will range in price from $1.00 to $10.00. Santa’s helpers will be available to help your child shop for the perfect gift. If the list, on the back of this note, is sent with your child, we make sure that everyone on that list gets a gift. Don’t let the prices scare you…we have a philosophy very similar to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital philosophy…”no child is turned away, due to his inability to pay.” This is not a fundraiser. This is a community outreach, sponsored by the Dodgeville Kiwanis, to put smiles on the faces of children this holiday season. Volunteers from Kiwanis, churches, high school organizations, scouts, and the community will be working with the children on their Christmas lists. Christmas is a magical time for children. We want to help create some of that magic. Mark your calendar for December 2 and 9 from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Tell your family, friends, and neighbors! If you have any questions or would like to volunteer to help, feel free to contact the head elf, Brenda Crowe, at brencrowe@hotmail.com. (Please visit our Facebook event page…just type “15th and Final Santa Secret Shop” in the search engine…invite your friends to share the page!) MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND YOURS! PS. There will be a special event for adults on both Saturdays. A Christmas vendor exhibit will be available for you to browse on the main floor of the building. There will be displays of Avon, Pampered Chef,, Stampin’ Up, homemade crafts and much, much more for your browsing and shopping pleasure. WAIT!! One more thing…there will be lunch available, both Saturdays, for a great price (provided by the Dodgeville United Methodist Women)! Don’t bother cooking that day…make the most of your shopping experience! Wonderful bake sales will be held on both weekends, as well, by the Dodgeville United Methodist Women and the Dodger Food Locker. Get some treats for the holiday season! YUMMY!! **NOTE: Only one child per volunteer shopper! If there is a younger sibling that will not attend without an older sibling, we will allow him/her to go with his older sibling…however, we will try to make sure an additional volunteer shopper is available for the younger child. It is very hard to keep gift lists accurate, if one volunteer has 2-3 children….as a matter of fact, it is almost impossible. In addition, please be patient, as we try to make this experience for your child fun. Every year, we have new people volunteering…it takes time to go through everything with your child and have the gifts wrapped correctly. Also, keep in mind that we DO NOT pick out gifts for your child. If mom gets duct tape or dad gets perfume, remember that your child picked the gifts especially for you!  We cannot have parents taking their children into the Santa Shop area. We, also, cannot have volunteers carrying infants and trying to shop for them. Please be mindful that the event is for age 3 through grade 6. “There is a time for everything and a season for every activity…” Yes, this is the final year. This event has been a blessing to all involved…and, we hope, a blessing to you and your family. A sincere THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts. It has been a pleasure and a privilege serving you. 
  • A big THANK YOU to Nancy Smith for volunteering, both Saturdays!
  • Parent letters will be going home, with your child, sometime around Thanksgiving. Schools getting letters are DES, RES, DMS (6th grade), Barneveld, and St. Joe's (through 6th grade).
  • A big THANK YOU to Jim and Connie Ashmore for the donation of gift items!
  • A big THANK YOU to Diane, Nicole, Roger, ****, Tom, Dave, Mary, Richard, Doug, and Don for all the help, tonight!
  • A big THANK YOU to Michelle Bollhorst for volunteering, December 9!
  • A big THANK YOU to Jeanette Martin for volunteering, December 2!
  • A big THANK YOU to Ann Van Dyn Hoven for volunteering, December 2!
  • Families will be coming in the door, closest to the parking lot. You will make your way down the hallway to the child check-in area. Children will be given a name tag, with a number. When a volunteer shopper is available, your child will go to the shopping area. When everything has been wrapped, items will be placed in bags, with your child's number on them.
  • TO ALL ATTENDING: This year, we need to remember that the building we are using is a place of business. We all need to treat it as such. Some areas are OFF LIMITS! Any pieces of equipment that may be out should NOT be touched. Space is tighter this year, on the main floor...be patient and respectful. :-)
