Casting and Splinting Workshop November 13, 2019 from 9 AM to 5 PM at Saving American Hearts, Inc. 6165 Lehman Dr. Colorado Springs, Colorado 80918.
Welcome to Saving American Hearts, Inc. Casting and Splinting Workshop! This course is designed for ER techs and nurses, Orthopedic Technologists, Athletic Trainers, Medical Assistants, and Physician Assistants, EMTs and Paramedics. The cost of this course is $275 and includes the E-Book! Please pay for your course at: In this course you will learn hands on training to apply various splints and casts on each other, and if we are able to work it out, we'll also be including several different traction applications. We are currently shopping for those supplies and hope to be able to get them all together so it can be included. It is recommended that you attend this meeting wearing suitable loose fitting clothing (i.e. T-shirts, tank tops and shorts or scrubs) to allow you to practice examination and application techniques in a supervised setting. This course does not provide any continuing education credits at this time, but we are working towards it. You will get a certificate that you have completed the workshop, but this will not certify you to perform casting and splinting if it is outside your scope of practice. We will provide competencies for you to keep and give to your employer, in hopes that they will write a policy allowing you to cast and splint with the documented competencies. Even in the practice settings where more complex fractures need consultation, leaning the techniques of applying casts and splints can assist the practitioner in managing many musculoskeletal injuries. The most common fractures seen in the office setting are reviewed and there is ample opportunity to apply each of the casts appropriately in the care of these injuries. More than 75% of this course involves interactive sessions. If you have any questions about the course, please email or call Catherine Brinkley RN at (719) 551-1222 or admin@savingamericanhearts.com
