Workshop: Comedy in Identity with Kemah Bob - Stand Up Workshop | Station Theater | Sunday, 09. December 2018

Comedy in Identity is a 3-hour intro to stand-up comedy workshop focusing on comedy as a tool for empowerment and the importance of honesty, vulnerability and identity within comedic expression. This isn’t a joke writing workshop, it’s about finding authenticity, embracing your truth and inviting an audience along. Think Hannah Gadsby’s Nanette.
This workshop space is LGBTQ+ and POC-centered. Everyone is welcome, but be sure to check your privilege at the door!
Kemah Bob is a stand-up comedian, writer, improviser, drag king, voice over artist, presenter and producer from Houston based in London. Her “stuff” centers Black cultural identity, mental health, sexuality and gender, using comedy as a tool for enlightenment and empowerment. After studying at Station Theater and UCBLA, she moved to the UK to obtain an MA in TV Production, but has somehow spent most of her time on stage. In addition to performing stand-up and hosting events in London, around the UK and in Europe on occasion, Kemah runs The FOC IT UP! Comedy Club, a monthly showcase of Femmes of Color in comedy. Both FOC IT UP! And Kemah’s first Edinburgh show Bob and Buds were warmly received at the 2018 Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland.
