Free Educator Admission | Simeone Foundation Museum | Tuesday, 20. March 2018

The Education Department at the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum is dedicated to educating the public about the evolution of the automobile. We educate the public through creative programming events, demonstration days, classroom lesson plans, classroom activities, classroom outreach, summer camps, field trips and tours. The Simeone’s theme is the Spirit of Competition, which at its heart explains the evolution of the automobile through automobile racing. Our historically and technically significant collection makes our lesson plans and classroom activities relevant to many different subject matter areas including history, social studies, science, technology, math, and art. Nearly all of the cars in the collection function; they run and drive. We use them for our demonstration days and for other educational events. There are few places in the world where you can connect to 75 cars with this kind of history that run, drive, and function.
The Simeone Foundation is a home for S.T.E.A.M. learning in Philadelphia
Science – The intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment. Every car in the collection is the result of experimentation to create the fastest automobile physics will allow.
Technology – Machinery and equipment developed from the application of scientific knowledge. The cars in the collection represent the pinnacle of technology for their time.
Engineering – The branch of science and technology concerned with the design, building, and use of engines, machines, and structures. All the cars in the collection were created using the laws of science and applying math to technical problems to form the product we see.
Art – The expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power. Many of the cars in the collection were not only built for performance but designed for beauty and built by craftsmen.
Math – The language of numbers used to explain the laws of science. Without mathematics, we wouldn’t have cars! Math is used everywhere and by everyone during the history of these cars, creating some of the greatest automobile racing moments.
