Let's Finish the Shot | Willamette Valley Christian School | Thursday, 02. May 2019

For more than 50 years, Willamette Valley Christian School (WVCS) has been partnering with parents to educate students, drawing families from the Salem, Keizer, Woodburn, Silverton, and surrounding areas. We work hard to provide “Excellence in Christ-Centered Education.”
Athletics are among the ways we help our students grow. WVCS believes athletics is about more than winning and losing – it is an opportunity for students to develop critical life skills, including perseverance, self-control, teamwork and sportsmanship. Athletics can be a wonderful tool to help form a student’s character and determination.
Unfortunately, the gymnasium in our historic school building does not meet the size requirements necessary for hosting high school athletic games. Currently “home” games for high school basketball and volleyball take place at gymnasiums rented from other schools in the greater Salem area, which makes school and community support difficult for the teams.
In 2015 WVCS began the construction of a new multi-purpose building on our campus. Once completed, this building will provide a home court for our athletic teams, a school kitchen and cafeteria area, as well as additional classroom space.
Through grassroots and word of mouth fundraising, this project is approximately 75% funded! Work is currently underway to achieve occupancy for the building, so the school will be able to use the kitchen, cafeteria, and restroom facilities while work on the gymnasium is finalized.
A Capital Campaign committee was formed in March 2019 with the goal of raising the remaining $224,000* necessary to complete the gymnasium portion of the building. Our hope is to raise the finances necessary by August 1 in order to complete the building in time for the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year.
We are asking you today if you would consider donating to this project. Will you help us raise the necessary funds to be able to complete a home court for our students?
