Welcome to the group MB-EAT (Mindfulness Based Eating Awareness Training) Program. Based on the proven MBSR (mindfulness based stress reduction) program developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, MB-EAT helps people use mindfulness techniques applied to eating to slow down, tune in to the body, and naturally eat less and be satisfied; no struggle involved. MB-EAT was developed by Dr. Jean Kristeller and supported by NIH funded research to address mindless, habitual eating, and binge eating. Although this program has been used for binge eating disorders, my training as a facilitator of this program focuses on the general population to address stress eating, mindless eating, and emotional eating.The group MB-EAT program is 10 weeks with 2 follow up phone check-ins.
This isn't a diet or a therapy; it's a program with a set of mindfulness tools that can change your life forever. It is appropriate for adults of all ages. Please feel free to call or email with questions about the program. Read more about the program origins here:

WHEN AND WHERE:
This 10 session program is offered in 2 hour sessions. 3 of the sessions are offered as in-person classes, and 7 are offered as remote group video sessions.

Metered Street Parking is available, and the Ellsworth parking garage is around the corner from this location. The Redline Metro Silver Spring station is a 10 minute walk. (We suggest walking around the old Discovery Building and then walking along Ellsworth to Cedar Ave.)

COST:
675.00 per participant, plus the Eventbrite registartion fee. Limited to 12 participants per program session.
Each participant will receive a list of resources (books, video, meditation guides), and an MB-EAT Workbook with materials provided weekly via email before the scheduled session
MB-EAT can be offered through an adapted 1-1 program, fully avaiable via zoom (live video). Due to the individual nature of this method there are fewer sessions and more individualized instruction. Please contact the facilitator to explore the scheduling avaiability for this option. 
FACILITATOR:
Claire Stuebe, MA, LCPC, NCC
Claire is a licensed counselor in North Carolina and Maryland. She has worked in North Carolina and Colorado as a therapist, career coach, program evaluator and an EAP counselor. She is graduate of Duke University and Adams State College. Her full professional biography can be found on the Sequence website:
Claire began her study of the MB-EAT program after her own health issues of breast cancer started early menopause and a significant change in her metabolism. Added to her regular daily practice of meditation and yoga, MB-EAT has helped her create a positive and healthy relationship with eating, and added to her tools for stress management. She is delighted to share these tools through the carefully designed MB-EAT program. MB-EAT can only be taught by certified facilitators. Claire offers this program over a 10 week class schedule through Sequence, repeated in the fall and spring, and she is also available for online teletherapy with a focus on wellness, mindfulness, and healing.

Special Guest:
The second in-person session marks the mid-point in the program. We will be joined by a local yoga instructor. During this session a set of basic, low movement, yoga techniques will be practiced to enhance mind-body connection. No prior yoga experience is required.


REFUNDS, REMOTE TECHNOLOGY AND OTHER POLICIES:
Payment is due upon registration. Cancellations with a full refund will be accepted until 7 days before the program start date. After this and for the duration of the program your registration is non-refundable. Participants who must miss one session may be offered a group make -up session, more than one absence will not be made up.
This class is a combined in-person and online program. Participants are responsible for attending the 3 in-person classes, and are also responsible for having the adequate technology to join the remote video sessions. This includes the internet speed and a device that can display audio and visual connection. Sequence uses "Zoom" for this webinar style remote access. The platform and online part of the program will be reviewed as a part of the first session. Private check-ins will be offered twice by phone after completion of the full program.

MB-EAT is an approach to eating that can change habits and build a healthier lifestyle. It is not a diet, and while weight loss may occur, this is not a weight loss program and no guarantees are offered regarding weight loss.
