Finding Loren - "The Life, Death and Discovery of a P-47 Fighter Pilot | Commemorative Air Force Minnesota Wing | Saturday, 22. July 2017

History buffs, aviation enthusiasts and people of all ages who value and appreciate the sacrifices made by so many brave Americans in uniform will enjoy this amazing story of one family's quest to to find their father, grandfather and great grandfather more than 70 years after he made the ultimate sacrifice in the final days of World War 2 in Europe.

1st. Lt. Loren Hintz was an Iowa farm boy and American P-47 fighter pilot with the 79th FG, 86 FS, shot down in action over northern Italy during the decisive Po River Valley Battle leading to the defeat of the once mighty German Army and its evil conspirators. Loren's death remained clouded in mystery for more than 70 years until his family, along with a dedicated group of passionate Italian Aviation enthusiasts and archaeologists, located and excavated the site where Loren was shot down. What they discovered will amaze you and surely hope to inspire the latest generation to cherish and honor all those Americans from the Greatest Generation.

Please join us to learn first hand the story of this true American hero and the incredible events that led to Finding Loren both figuratively and more. Members of Hintz's family and the Italian team (including an eye witness to the crash site in 1945) who helped make the amazing discovery possible, will be on hand to share the story with a short film and powerpoint presentation and will take questions from the audience. The actual engine and other parts from the wreckage from Hintz's P-47D Razorback Thunderbolt have been shipped from Italy and will be onsite and available for viewing and interpretation with help from members AirCorps Aviation of Bemidji, MN and the Commemorative Air Force.

We look forward to seeing you for this remarkable, inspiring and interactive event as history and the human spirit come alive!
