March For Science Event - Spokane | Spokane, Washington | Saturday, 22. April 2017

It is time for scientists, science enthusiasts, and concerned citizens in Spokane to come together to make ourselves heard! This event, which coincides with the national March for Science, is being organized to happen on Earth Day by scientists and science enthusiasts to promote the sciences and to peaceably protest the anti-science policies and people being put forth by the United States Congress and our President Donald J. Trump.
  • Just a few more signs to make!
  • Works in progress...
  • "Dow Chemical is pushing a Trump administration that's open to scrapping regulations to ignore the findings of federal scientists who point to a family of widely used pesticides as harmful to about 1,800 critically threatened or endangered species. .... The industry's request comes after EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt announced last month he was reversing an Obama-era effort to bar the use of Dow's chlorpyrifos pesticide on food after recent peer-reviewed studies found that even tiny levels of exposure could hinder the development of children's brains." HUGE reason why many of us are marching TOMORROW! Scientific findings, children's brains, and endangered species MATTER! Bring your family and friends to Riverfront Park at 1pm to show your support of science! #MarchForScience #Spokane #ScienceNotSilence #FactsMatter

  • Anyone interested in discussing science - what it is, how it works, how we can make that argument to the general public - should consider coming to the Dialogue on Science at EWU, on Friday, April 21. We'll be getting started at 2:00 p.m., and running until at least 4:00 p.m. We'll have talks on aspects of science from physics, biology, history, and other areas, with lots of time for audience interaction. Location is the JFK Auditorium on the side of the library ( https://www.ewu.edu/Documents/Locations/Cheney/CheneyMap_092016.pdf ). Free parking in lot P12, cheap parking on street meters, or take the 66 bus from Spokane. We want to reach beyond preaching to the choir, but we'd also love the choir members (you!) to show up and be part of the discussion.
  • Were are we marching, exactly? I see that we're meeting at the clock tower, but what is the route? Any more details? I'm a planner (weird, right?) so the more info, the better! The deets might be on here, but I'm not finding much.
